Homewrecker

Home Wrecker. To wreck a home, a structure, a foundation, an enclosed happiness.

Homewrecker defines a type of individual who aspires and perhaps suceeds at breaking off a marriage.

I was inspired to use this word as the heart of my artistic research because I thought it raised a lot of questions about structured love, relationships and the imposed morality confining female sexuality.  I wanted to take on the female homewreker character as the invisible presence behind every art piece of this series. We speak here of this woman often seen as an attractive witch who takes pleasure into  wrecking the castle, the arrangement between two lovers. This demolition is made possible through seduction, often seen as enchantment or voodoism which end up being rationalized as irresistable. It is a spell said to be visually enticing for some but morally terrifying for others. After the withcraft, we are left with traces of the aftermath, wether the homewrecker leaves empty handed or not.

I want the viewer to grasp onto the texture and atmosphere of fresh ruins and feel the need to reflect on the reasons why the structure was broken and how they experience the silence of the outcome.
